Happy new year 2023
Dec 31st, 2022 by Jesper Kråkhede
It is New Year´s Eve again, and as always the security architect, or should I say Technical Specialist now, is writing a blog post.
2022 hasn´t been an easy year. There has been war in Europe, energy prices that made us all look at the thermostat, inflation, and of course a steady flow of attacks. Phishing campaigns that stole one-time codes, ransomware that hit hospitals and municipalities, and vulnerabilities that had to be patched yesterday.
But here is what I want to say this year. Even when bad things happen, there are a lot of us who help.
I have seen security people work through nights and weekends to get a hospital back online. Incident responders who cancelled their vacations without complaining. Colleagues at competing companies sharing indicators and advice because the attacker was the same. Researchers who publish what they find so everyone can protect themselves. And admins in small municipalities who learned more about Active Directory in a week than most of us do in a year, because they had to.
So a big thank you to everyone who works every day to keep things running. To everyone in healthcare, who has carried an enormous load for three years now. And to everyone in security, often invisible until something goes wrong.
You make a difference, even when nobody sees it.
Happy new year, and greetings from all my dachshunds!
